Cryptocurrency VS Cash – Do you ever wonder what’s going to happen with money such as notes and coins? Well, in late 2021 Josh Frydenberg, who is the former Australian treasurer – promised to consult about introducing a third type of currency. A central bank digital currency. You can read more about this at Australia is investigating a digital currency article. Unfortunately, crypto are planning to take over cash. Therefore, this shows us information that very soon the government will be making everything digital.

Cryptocurrency and Epiwatch VS Cash

An article states that – A cryptocurrency donation worth around $5.3 million in the form of Ethereum dollars has been given to UNSW SYDNEY by the currency’s co-founder Vitalik Buterin. The funds will help support an open-source intelligence tool developed by Professor Raina Macintyre of the university’s Kirby Institute to provide pandemic early warning signals.

Australia is now 96.3% digital. Soon, there won’t be any cash services and it will all be ‘card only’ in shopping centers. Vitalik Buterin is also handing over USD$4 million in crypto funds particularly for the future development of Epiwatch. Epiwatch was developed in 2016 which is boosted by research and testing. Epiwatch works as a scanning program. It scans millions of items of publicly available online data. This data includes social media and news reports. This is to try and stop epidemics.

How cryptocurrency is taking over our society to soon become cashless

As cryptocurrency grows, our society is becoming more dependent on the government and creators of crypto. Therefore, cryptocurrencies are making the government more powerful. We don’t want to give them more power. More and more people are using cryptocurrency. Statistics show crypto markets are increasing frequently. As most know, covid has gotten in the way of many things. Such as, not being able to cross the border from NSW to QLD. But, with cryptocurrency it allows people to trade freely across borders. Such as, it is estimated that 0.9 million people, 3.4% of the total population of Australia, currently own at least one form of cryptocurrency. Therefore, we are soon becoming a cashless society.

Aldi has now launched a trial self-serve checkouts at 9 stores in New South Wales. This spread across social media quite fast, as everyone is sharing the ‘card only’ payments. Unfortunately, card only is growing rapidly in many stores. This is a problem that we are all facing.
